Does Online Marketing Success Depend On a Call To Action?

In a word…absolutely. There is so much discussion on Facebook and Manta and Linkedin about web site search engine optimization, but the call to action is a critical step we see businesses miss every single day. If you miss this step, you won’t have online marketing success.

Adding links to all of your social profiles and your blog at the bottom of your forum posts is great. Adding anchor text links inside your blog posts is essential. But if you’re not including specific calls to action within your articles, blog posts, videos and forum posts, you are missing a BIG step.

I don’t want to make blanket statements about people being lazy, but we don’t want to pay income taxes either…so…

Here’s an example: we have over 450 posts on a forum called Manta. It’s a small business forum where people ask questions about everything from social media and online marketing to business finance, starting a business, how to choose vendors, etc. It’s a really great community and is growing every day.

Mark and we have gotten several customers, some JV partners, a couple of vendors and tools and a few answers to our own questions in the last few months. We’ve gotten so much traction from this free tool that PC magazine interviewed us for their review of the site. Go take a look at the Manta review by PC magazine.

I was missing this step in my Manta posts, so a couple of days ago we started asking people to visit my Manta business profile and give me a recommendation. we included the link. Within 30 minutes we had 2. Within 24 hours we had 6. In 6 months of posting on this site and getting great feedback, no one had taken the time to perform that task…until Iaskedthem to.

Don’t underestimate the power of a call to action. Add ‘please retweet’ to the end of your tweets, ‘please share’ to your Facebook posts, and ‘please give me your feedback below’ to your blog posts. Ask people to visit your site, recommend your page, join your mailing list, and buy your products. Your online marketing success will depend on the use of a call to action.
