Copywriting Gold-Killer Headlines And Calls To Action
I can’t possibly stress enough the importance of headlines and calls to action as critical components of successful copywriting.
Copywriting includes any piece of written content that you use in your Internet marketing business. I’m talking about articles, posts, sales pages, landing pages and even video and audio scripts.
Having a compelling headline and even a mediocre call to action can take a good article and make it great.
Great content serves no purpose if people don’t read it all or they read it but don’t do what you want them to because you never even bothered to tell them what you want them to do!
We tend to focus on content and keyword optimization when we write and often lose sight of the need for a headline with impact and a call to action that converts.
Even as I write this I’m smiling just thinking about how often I still do this:)
To help you with headlines a bit think about some of these phrases that you can use as kind of templates for creating headlines:
- If you’ve ever wondered_____
- The biggest benefit of______
- The key to_______
- 5 Great reasons to_______
- 7 steps to________
- Want to learn how to_____
- Find out the secret to_____
You could create a list of your own by just copying these and using your imagination. Create one and save it. Keep it open on your computer when you are writing and you’ll never be stuck for a headline again.
As far as calls to action go, just remembering to put one in at the end of EVERYTHING you write puts you ahead of the competition.
The best way I ever heard of using the call to action is to end the article or post or video with just a little something missing. Great content but just a little incomplete. Then your call to action is phrased in a way that is tempting the person reading to go find out more, to get the answer.
Again, I can tell you a million more ways to create a call to action or a headline, but just using both every time will make all your content more effective.
